5:15, Friday. 10 February 2012.

Freezing!  Finally, a typical Wisconsin day is upon us.  My guess is it is 14 degrees with a fairly strong wind out of the Northwest dropping the temperature felt even lower.  A couple possible causes for this: the first I have already talked about, there are no clouds in the sky to trap the Earth's heat (however it should be warmer during the day, I shudder at what tonight will bring).  The second, the jet stream is pulling cold air down from Canada right on top of us.  The map in the following link shows the upper air currents.  Wind is traveling from central Canada and turning right through Wisconsin.

4:45, Thursday. 9 February 2012.

Today was much like yesterday.  It was cold in the morning but has gotten quite warm because there were few clouds.  At quarter to five it felt like 36 degrees and the sky has clouded up to about 40% coverage.  The wind is out of the Southwest again.

4:50, Wednesday. 8 February 2012.

The sky is completely clear and the wind comes blowing in from the Southwest.  The air is warm from the sun's rays, around 34 degrees.  Soon with the sun moving low on the horizon the heat will dissipate and it will get very cold tonight.  The reason is without clouds there is nothing to block the sun's rays coming in; however, without the clouds at night the Earth's infrared radiation will escape more easily into the atmosphere.

5:00, Tuesday. 7 February 2012.

Today was a huge shift.  It was bitterly cold.  I think it was about 24 degrees with a light breeze out of the Northwest.  The clouds were pillowy and covered around 70% of the sky.

4:15, Monday. 6 February 2012.

Today makes one question the conclusion of one of Earth's most omnicient mammals.  Take the time context away and one could only describe the weather as Spring!  This most unusal Wisconsin weather consisted of pools of melted ice.  By the late afternoon it felt around 36 degrees with a very slight breeze out of the Southwest and 0% cloud cover.  I think that the lack of clouds would be an indicator of a low pressure system in Eau Claire.

5:10, Thursday. 2 February 2012.

A very similar day as yesterday.  It felt around 25 degrees and no wind.  There was complete cloud coverage, the same as yesterday.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

4:30 PM, Wednesday. 1 February 2011.

Very similar conditions as yesterday.  Felt like 26 degrees with very little wind.  The notable change was the sky was completely covered in grey clouds.  Shape and elevation of the clouds are completely indiscernible.  Maybe they will bring snow tonight?
