Temperature has dropped slightly today. It's now only 39 degrees with the wind coming from the northeast. Coupling the wind direction with the stratus clouds we have overhead, we may continue to get rainfall as has been going on sporadically all day.
The low pressure system has moved underneath us which is causing that northerly wind. This might be bringing cooler air into our area as well as picking up some moister from lake Superior.
It seems we are situated right below the major cusp of the trough in the jetstream which may explain why the temperature has dropped but not plummeted.
Behind the system you see mostly dry air; I think as we see the system move to the east we will see a wind shift in Eau Claire towards the west and that will bring cool dry air and stable conditions. To the south along the cold front you see a lot of storms right along the leading edge. This is caused by the frontal lifting of that dense cold air forcing that warm moist air higher and cooling it forcing it to drop precipitation.
