12:55, Wednesday. 12 April 2012.
The temperature is 33 degrees with clear skies and no wind.
This map shows current wind data: you can see the non-existent Midwest winds which I predict is caused by a large High pressure cell. In the Rockies you see the fastest winds all moving to the northern tip of US Rockies. I think this indicates very low pressure at the northern end of the mountain range which is pulling all the air from higher pressure areas towards it.
There is indeed a High pressure cell over Illinois with very distant air pressure contours in all directions from it. We can also see the low pressure over the Rockies, but the winds are also following along the front as if the front is working like a vacuum to suck all the air in towards it and then shoots it north.
